Residents of the Ramna and Siddheshwari areas under Ward 19 of the Dhaka South City Corporation are facing severe hardship due to long-standing garbage accumulation. The unattended waste has created unbearable foul odor, while increased mosquito and fly infestation has raised serious health concerns.According to locals, the issue has persisted for a long time despite repeated complaints. They say the responsible official, CI Hanif, is a sincere and responsible officer who has instructed immediate action after being informed of the situation. However, allegations have been raised that some of his subordinates, including a staff member named Sardar Ali, are not properly executing those orders, resulting in continued neglect.Residents further claim that when asked about cleaning duties, some workers show reluctance and delay their responsibilities, disrupting regular waste management operations in the area.In addition, even light rainfall causes waterlogging in the ground floors of several houses. Although proper drainage cleaning could resolve the issue, poor maintenance has led to prolonged stagnation of rainwater.Locals are now urging the city corporation to urgently remove the garbage, ensure proper drainage maintenance, and take strict administrative action against those responsible for negligence at the operational level.
